I am traveling to visit a friend in SoCal. They secured Disneyland tickets with their resident discount. However, an ankle injury has meant they can’t actually partake in the trip! They’ve encouraged us to use the tickets on our own—but *can* we?

    Hi Liz,

I’m so sorry to hear about your friend’s injury. I hope they feel well quickly. In case things do look better by the time your visit comes up, I would like to point out that the Disneyland Resort is actually quite accommodating to Guests with mobility disabilities. There are even wheelchairs or electric conveyance vehicles (ECVs) available for rent.

I’m glad you came to us at planDisney to ask about the Southern California resident weekday ticket. Residency within Southern California ZIP codes 90000-93599 or Northern Baja California postal codes 21000-22999 is required to not only purchase these tickets but also to use them. A government-issued photo ID is needed as proof of residency.

There are a couple of options you might consider. One is to take the tickets to a main entrance ticket booth to upgrade the tickets to another ticket type that doesn’t have Southern California residency requirements. The new ticket must be of equal or greater value. Another option is for your friend to hang on to the tickets for use at another time. The existing theme park reservations may be canceled by visiting the "My Theme Park Reservations" page of the Disneyland Resort website and booking new reservations for another date that is still valid for the tickets. If you are no longer in the area, other Guests may also use the tickets, as long as the tickets are wholly unused. Your friend can even use the tickets themselves, even if your names are on them. However, once a given Guest uses a ticket, the ticket is non-transferable and may only be used by the original Guest from that point on.

Again, I hope things work out for the best for your friend and for you. I hope you have a wonderful time visiting the Disneyland Resort and sunny Southern California, Liz!
