Hi Stacy,
Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel and thank you for asking us another question!
My son actually attended
Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party for the first time when he was almost 2, so I totally understand where you’re coming from. His bedtime at home is between 8:00-8:30 PM, so I was worried about whether he’d be able to stand the late Party time.
In the end, he absolutely LOVED it and kept going until surprisingly late, but I prepared him for it. First, I made sure to buy tickets for a Party that took place closer to the end of our Walt Disney World Resort vacation. That way, I shifted his nap times/bedtimes gradually until he was having his nap from 3:00ish-5:00ish every day. That allowed him to be awake much later every night, which was a good thing considering that fireworks are probably one of his favourite things on this planet! It also allowed him to thoroughly enjoy his first Halloween experience at “Mickey’s House” (what he calls Magic Kingdom Park).
This schedule works fo rus and made for a more enjoyable vacation for everyone. My son was never overtired and we were still able to enjoy our evenings in the Parks with a little guy who was well rested and happy. I’ve used a similar schedule on every visit to Walt Disney World Resort ever since and I’ve never looked back!
Have a Magical Day,
Lynne
