We are traveling with two families our of Fort Lauderdale. One of the adults from the second family is booked in our room. Can we arrive at different times or do we need to be together?

Ahoy and welcome back to planDisney, Julie! I am so happy to see you here, planning a Disney Cruise Line adventure with two other families. Disney Cruises with your family are so magical, and when you add others, the enchantment multiplies.

For your upcoming cruise departing from Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, each member of your stateroom has to check in at the same time. When you arrive at the port, Disney Cruise Line Cast Members will complete the process for you to be able to board the ship, including ensuring each member of your stateroom has the needed travel documentation. They will scan your check-in pass (which can be a printout from your pre-arrival cruise check-in e-mail or a mobile pass saved to your phone "wallet") and check the proof of citizenship and safety photos for each member of your stateroom. With this complete, you are welcome to board once your boarding group is called.

If this is your first time departing from Port Everglades, I think you will be pleased with how easy it is to navigate, much like Port Canaveral. One difference: the road to the port goes right by the ship. I always thrill driving over the bridge to Port Canaveral and seeing my soon-to-be home at sea in the distance. At Port Everglades, it is not so distant. The anticipation skyrockets in a heartbeat. Some familiar favorites greet you here, including the iconic yellow Mickey ears entryway that takes you from land to sea and the Cast Members' "Welcome Aboard" cheers.

Did you know you can use your MagicBand+ from a Walt Disney World or Disneyland Resort vacation as a DisneyBand+ on your Disney Cruise? DisneyBand+ puts the convenience of a Key to the World card right on your wrist, with the ability to open your stateroom door, charge purchases to your account, and check you on and off the ship at your port destinations. I like that they are safe to wear in the water, so I don't have to take mine off to enjoy the pools and slides.

I hope your cruise is overflowing with laughter, magic and memories for a lifetime. Please come back to planDisney with any other questions. We love sharing our adoration of Disney Destinations with you!

    SEAS the adventure!
