Hi, Amy! Thanks for bringing your question to planDisney!
As the mom of a teenage son with autism, I can certainly understand the logistical struggles that can come along with traveling. However, one of the reasons why my family and I return to
Walt Disney World Resort yEAR after yEAR is that they always go above and beyond to accommodate
individuals with special needs. Be sure to stop by
Guest Relations when you arrive for your first day of fun at one of the theme parks. A Guest Relations Cast Member will be happy to discuss accommodations such as
Disability Access Service that may help make the magic more accessible for your sons.
Like you, I often rely on companion restrooms when I am out in public alone with my son. Amy, I'm happy to tell you that numerous companion restrooms are located throughout Walt Disney World Resort, and they are available during the
phased reopening process. There is a handy
restroom map on the Walt Disney World website that lists all the companion restroom locations. When you are visiting the theme parks, you can also find the nearest companion restroom using your
My Disney Experience mobile app. Simply open your map and click on the location icon at the bottom of the screen to bring up the map. When the map pops up, you can click on "Filter" at the top of the screen to select your location, then click the arrow at the top of the screen to open a drop-down menu. Next, select "Restrooms" from the menu to view all of the restroom locations. If you click on a particular restroom area within the map, it will show you if there is a companion restroom available at that location.
As you get ready for your visit to The Most Magical Place on Earth, you may find this
Guide for Guests with Cognitive Disabilities helpful. If you have any additional questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
See ya real soon!
Samantha
