We are traveling with a toddler on the Disney wish in two weeks. Can we bring a small night light to plug in as well as a “light show” box?

    Hey, howdy, hey, Sheila!

Yeehaw! Your Disney Cruise Line vacation is almost here! You and your little buckaroo are sure to have a rootin' tootin' time aboard my daughter's favorite of the Disney Cruise Line ships: the Disney Wish.

It's awesome that you are planning ahead to make your cruise experience as comfortable and enjoyable for your toddler and everyone in your stateroom. Yes, a small night light is something that is typically allowed on your cruise. All devices and appliances are subject to inspection to ensure they can safely operate in the unique environment of a cruise ship. There are several appliances and electrical items that are prohibited. Items that are considered unsafe for use onboard will be confiscated until the end of your cruise. One time, we had a portable humidifier that was taken for inspection. After it was verified to be safe for onboard use, we retrieved it from the Guest Services Desk onboard to use during our cruise.

The safety inspection crew members of your cruise will have the final say on whether a device may be brought onboard. In the, hopefully unlikely, event that an item is not permitted, it may be helpful to have backup plans in place. One unique feature of the Disney Wish (also the Disney Treasure and the Disney Destiny) is the variable brightness levels in your stateroom. For more information on adjusting lighting levels, take a look at the information shared by my planDisney pal Tracie. My preferred night lighting plan, which is also mentioned by Tracie, is to pack several glow sticks in our luggage. I activate some each night to place in a glass in the stateroom bathroom and other locations in the stateroom, as needed.

Tony's Tip: If you are staying in an Oceanview Stateroom or other stateroom category with a view outside your ship, I recommend packing a few basic clips that can be used to help keep stateroom curtains more tightly closed. This can help prevent sunlight from sneaking through small curtain openings, which might disrupt a sleeping toddler at sunrise or during naptime.

    Have a magical cruise, Sheila!
