Hi Koree!
Thanks for sailing by the Disney Parks Moms Panel! You're setting sail in just a few weeks?!? Eeee!!!! Starting the new year off aboard a Disney Cruise to paradise sounds perfect! You'll be saying "Bon Voyage" to the cold Michigan winter and "Ahoy!" to sunshine and warm sea breezes!
It's exciting that you and your pirate crew want to explore each destination on your own! Although I always find that
Disney Cruise Line's Port Adventures makes seeing the beauty of each port of call a breeze, I do agree that spending time sightseeing on your own is also fun! When the ship docks at the Havensight Pier in St. Thomas, you'll find taxis waiting for Guests. I recommend researching some of the beautiful beaches in St. Thomas such as Sapphire, Lindquist and Coki. Unfortunately, none of these beaches are within walking distance, so be sure to budget for transportation to and from the Cruise Terminal. In Tortola, I highly recommend visiting The Baths at Devil's Bay.
Koree, if you and your family venture out on your own, please be sure to take note of the all aboard time. When you plan your day, leave plenty of time to get back to the Disney Cruise ship. I know it's an obvious piece of advice, but it's easy to lose track of time while enjoying days in paradise!
