Hi Jan,
Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! I am grinning from ear to ear at the thought of you going to the Walt Disney World Resort with your 5-year old grandson. The magic awaits!
There are several resorts that can accommodate four adults and one child.
Disney's All Star Music Resort has family suites that can accommodate up to six guests.
Disney's Port Orleans Resort - Riverside and the
Caribbean Beach Resort can accommodate up to five guests in the same room. We have also stayed in the
Contemporary Resort - Garden Wing in a room that can accommodate up to five guests. Although it was more expensive than the moderate resorts we had previously visited, we loved having access to the monorail.
If you want an adventurous alternative, you could try the
Cabins at Ft. Wilderness Resort which can sleep up to six adults. These come with one queen bed, one bunk bed, and one queen-sized sleeper sofa plus a kitchen.
Since you are traveling with a 5-year old, I want to emphasize the importance of making advanced dining reservations for
Character Meals. These can be made up to 180 days in advance and restaurants do fill quickly. One of our favorites is
Chef Mickey's.
Happy Planning!
