If you are traveling with 2 other parties and their arrival time is earlier than yours can you go with them at the earlier time?

    Ahoy, Jessica!

Welcome aboard planDisney! There’s just something extra magical about cruising with friends and family—sharing the excitement of embarkation day, watching shows together, and maybe even racing to see who can spot Captain Mickey first!

When it comes to Port Arrival Times and traveling with other parties, Disney Cruise Line follows the policy of having everyone board according to the latest Port Arrival Time in the party. So if your Port Arrival Time is later than the others in your sailing crew, everyone who wants to board together will need to use your time and boarding group. It might not be the Hakuna Matata answer you were hoping for, but it’s important for making sure the boarding process stays as smooth as Ariel’s dinglehopper hairdo.

It’s also helpful to know that Port Arrival Time doesn’t mean you’re stepping onto the ship at that exact moment—it simply means that’s the earliest time you can enter the terminal and start the check-in process. Actual boarding still depends a variety of factors, including how quickly the terminal is moving Guests through and what boarding group you’re in.

Now, here’s where a little pixie dust might come into play. In my experience, the early wave of arrivals—usually Port Arrival Times from 10:45 AM to around 12:30 PM—tends to be the busiest, and Cast Members usually stick closely to the scheduled times and boarding groups. But as the morning rush calms and the crowd inside the terminal starts to thin out (typically after 12:30 PM or so), I’ve seen them move into a more relaxed “open boarding” approach, allowing Guests with later times to head in sooner. It’s never guaranteed and is totally at the discretion of the phenomenal Cast Members working their Disney magic, but it does happen on many sailings.

So while I always recommend planning to enter the cruise terminal at your assigned time, keep your ears up—because you just might get the chance to hop in line with your crew a bit earlier if the stars (and boarding groups) align.

I hope this helps as you chart a course for a smooth embarkation with your sailing crew! Whether you're first to step into the terminal or making a grand entrance a little later, just remember—once you hear “Now boarding all remaining Guests,” the magic really kicks into gear. So pack your patience, your matching shirts, and maybe a few Disney jokes for the wait, because your Fantasmic adventure is just on the horizon.

Sea ya real soon as May brings sunshine, magical ports, and maybe a Mickey bar or two,
