I will be traveling to the park with my elderly mother in late January. She is not very tech savvy - does she have to have her own Disney account to manage tickets? Or can I purchase her tickets and use my app to manage both of our entries in the park?

Hi there, Kayla! Thanks so much for bringing your question to planDisney, your magical visit will be here before you know it!

I absolutely love that you’ll be visiting Disneyland Resort with your mom. Some of my most treasured Disney memories are from trips with my own mom, and there’s something extra special about sharing the magic together as adults.  A mom and daughter day at Disneyland also has major Incredibles energy. Different superpowers, same mission, and a whole lot of love holding it all together.

While you’re there, be sure to take advantage of the many Disneyland PhotoPass Photographers sprinkled throughout the parks. Pro tip from one mom-daughter Disney fan to another: ask a Cast Member about a PhotoPass “excursion.” These quick 10–15 minute mini sessions often take you to a few nearby photo spots and can result in some truly frame-worthy memories. On one visit, a fantastic Cast Member photographed our large group, and when we ran into him again the next day in a completely different area of the park, he remembered us! Those pixie-dust moments make the memories even sweeter.

As for tickets and app management, your mom can leave the tech worries at home. She does not need her own Disney account or to manage the Disneyland app if she’s not comfortable with it. You can absolutely purchase her ticket and link it right in your Disneyland app, allowing you to manage both of your theme park reservations, park entry, Lightning Lane selections, and dining reservations all in one place. Think of yourself as the official trip conductor, keeping everything running along the (Disneyland Railroad) tracks smoothly. Of course, if your mom decides she wants to try the app herself, that option is always there too, but it’s definitely not required.

Kayla, I hope you and your mom have the most magical visit and create memories you’ll cherish long after the last churro is gone. If any other questions pop up as you put the finishing touches on your plans, please don’t hesitate to reach out, we’re always happy to help sprinkle a little extra pixie dust on your trip.

Hoping your visit is nothing short of .... Incredible!
