i am traveling to orlando for the first time with my children ages 16.13.12 Two dont like amusement rides and since we are traveling in mid december not sure of your weather. and my 16 year old doesnt want to go. any suggestions

Hello Dawn!  It sounds like you have your work cut out for you.  If it were me, I might consider leaving the kids home and heading down to Disney by myself!  Just kidding of course.  ;)

I and some of my family members are also not huge fans of amusement parks/rides but we absolutely love Disney.  Disney is really more of an experience and far from being an amusement park.  Technically, Disney doesn't have rides but rather attractions.  Most of the attractions have a storyline to build up to the actual ride itself.

And there is so much more to Disney other than the attractions.  There are many dining choices, sports and recreation, the beautiful resorts with themed pools - the possibilities are truly endless!

It is a little late to order a vacation planning CD but you may want to visit disneyworld.com or YouTube to watch movie clips of the attractions.  This might help get your children excited.  And if the theme parks truly don't interest them, maybe Blizzard Beach - one of the water parks will.

Your 16 year old is also old enough for other adventures, such as a Segway tour.  An adult would need to accompany him but this is certainly something you wouldn't find at an amusement park and is very cool!

You are also vacationing during one of the most beautiful times of years - the holiday season.  Historically speaking, you should find the weather comfortable during the day - kids in shorts/jeans with a sweatshirt handy for the cooler nights.

Please let the Moms Panel help you.  Send in any follow-up questions you may have and we'll see what we can do to help out!  Diane
