Kathy:
November will be here before you know it!
As for suggested restaurants for children, the question is: Where do I start? Since it sounds like you're on the dining plan, I'll try to stick to those (one of my kid's favorite's, Rainforest Cafe, is actually not on the plan...but you can always enjoy it on a later trip!)
- Character Meals are always a hit with the under 6 crowd. Favorites include Crystal Palace (one of the best buffets on property, in my opinion, plus you get Pooh and his buddies), 1900 Park Fare (the only Character meal with Cinderella AND Prince Charming and the wicked stepsisters), Chef Mickey's with Mickey and all the gang, and Akershus for its array of princesses--but if you've got picky eaters, though, go for a late brunch, as the menu is more off-the-beaten-path than most.
- Counter-service locations for the younger set: Cosmic Ray's offers more than the usual burger fare, plus, if you don't mind the loud music, the kids can be entertained by the animatronics. Also, my little guys still remember what a treat it was to pick their favorite dessert from the case at Sunshine Seasons.
As for your bill, make sure your waiter knows you are on the dining plan. (Most of the time they'll ask if it's not already on your reservation.) After dinner, you'll give your waiter your "Key to the World" card--much like a credit card--and he'll bring back your receipt with your gratuity owed. You can either bill it to your room or pay there. If there's any food or drink (like an alcoholic drink) that's not included in the plan, it will be run up separately, and you will receive a separate bill for it.
Wishing y'all a magical vacation!
Whitney
