we are traveling with a mentally and physically handicapped 17 yr old next month, who cannot stand in line at all. I have read that the policy has changed for accomodations at the parks any suggestions? thanks

    Hi, Patricia!

Welcome, and thanks for stopping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your question. Your Walt Disney World Resort vacation is just around the corner! I hope your family is getting excited for all the magic ahead.

The Disability Access Service (DAS) Card system replaced the Guest Assistance Card and is designed to accommodate Guests who aren’t able to wait in a conventional queue due to a disability (including non-apparent disabilities). DAS cards are issued at Guest Relations and offer a return time for attractions based on the current wait time. As soon as the Guest (and his or her group) finishes one attraction, they can receive a return time for another. Additionally, a Guest whose disability is based solely on the need for a wheelchair or Electronic Convenience Vehicle does not need a DAS Card. Depending on the attraction, their party would either wait in the standard queue or receive a return time at the attraction based on the current wait time. The resort offers a whole host of tools to help make the parks accessible to as many Guests as possible, so please visit the Walt Disney World website for more information about services for Guests with disabilities.

I hope this information helps, Patricia. Please feel free to ask me any other planning questions you may have as your vacation approaches!

    Wishing you magic,
    Courtney
