We are traveling May 29 -June 5 with a 2 and 5yr old. My package includes the dining plan. How do you suggest that we use the meals, dinners, breakfasts, lunches, etc...? I have already booked 2 character breakfasts..Trying to get the most out of the plan.

    Hi, Pamela!

I love having the Disney Dining Plan!  It is a great value and you will get to try some wonderful restaurants.

Buffets or family style meals will be your best value since you have a 2 year old.  Because your 2 year old will not have a dining plan, he/she will not be able to order a meal (unless you pay out of pocket for it) but is welcome to share off your plate so an "all you care to eat" situation works the best for little ones.  Character meals are great.  The kids love them, there is plenty of food, and it is  the perfect way to meet your favorite Disney pals.

I would mix it up a bit.  Since you have 7 nights, you have 7 table service credits. Plan a variety with a few lunches and a few dinners so you don't get tired of breakfast buffets each day.  I think 2 days of breakfast buffets will be perfect.    As for the rest of your credits, your best value is to book dinners since these are the most expensive.  Think Chef Mickey's for dinner, Cape May Cafe (no characters at dinner) in the Beach Club, both buffets.  Another option is family style dining at the Liberty Tree Inn (Magic Kingdom) or Whispering Canyon Cafe (Wilderness Lodge).

Hollywood Studios has 2 fun locations I like for lunch:  Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater and 50's Prime Time Cafe.  Super fun for kids.

Whatever you decide, make sure to make your dining reservations.  Don't forget you also have a quick service meals.  If you need suggestions for those, let me know!  My family loves to eat, so we have lots of favorites.  Good luck deciding where to eat during your magical vacation!

Meet the Panelist: Cathy, Ohio

Hi, I'm Cathy from Cleveland. I love to travel, especially in the winter to escape the snow and cold of Ohio! My husband and 2 kids share my enthusiasm for travel, so we enjoy our adventures together whether it is hiking at a National Park, sailing on a Disney Cruise Ship, or going to Walt Disney World which is our home away from home. My husband proposed to me in front of Cinderella Castle and we have not stopped visiting ever since! It's a blast helping guests here at planDisney!
