I will be traveling to the Magic Kingdom in October with my family. We have a 4 year old and my father has mobility limitations, so we hope to find parking in the disability lot. How long does it take from the parking lot until you enter the park?

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel Brian ~

Your trip is just around the corner and I bet you're too excited to sleep already!

As a Mom to a son with mobility disabilities, I am happy to see that you are planning ahead for your Father. The disability parking area for the Magic Kingdom is in the front of the parking lot near the Transportation and Ticket Center. A valid handicapped permit is required to park in this area. When you approach the parking plaza, stay to the right (but not the far right lane that is designated for buses). As you come through, follow the blue line along the street. When you get near, a Cast Member will direct you to the disability parking area. It is also pretty clearly marked.

Trams do not service the disability parking area so you will need to walk from your car to the Transportation and Ticket Center. It usually takes us about 10 minutes. Keep in mind there is a little bit of a hill as you are approaching the Transportation and Ticket Center. There are blue courtesy wheelchairs located in the disability lots if your Father doesn't have one and would need assistance. You can use these wheelchairs until you reach a wheelchair rental location.

Once you reach the Transportation and Ticket Center, you will go through the security checkpoint. After that, you can take a ferry boat, monorail, or bus to the Magic Kingdom. I like to play it on the safe side so I always allow my family at least 45 minutes from the time we park until the time we're walking into the Magic Kingdom.

Please feel free to visit us again with all of your planning questions. We're hEAR for you!

Wishing you minnie magical memories :-) Allison V.
