Dear Jackie,
Thanks for reaching out to us here at the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your terrific question about planning for your wondEARful day at the
Magic Kingdom with your children!
Yes, if you haven't been to the Walt Disney World Resort in a few years, a lot has changed in terms of planning out your time there! You will love it.
FastPass+ is, in my opinion, a terrific system that helps you to make your day run efficiently and get you through several attractions using much shorter FastPass+ lines. Starting 60 days before your trip (or 30 days if you are not staying at an on-site hotel), you can make up to three FastPass+ selections of attractions that you would like to experience. You will then select a time for each of those attractions and you will visit the attraction within that hour-long window that you have chosen. When you arrive at the attraction, you will go through a much shorter line to ride. With only one day at the Magic Kingdom, I also highly recommend arriving very early in the morning, around an hour before the park opens, to get through security and to beat the crowds that arrive as the day goes on. You will find that you are able to do several attractions in the first hour of the park being open.
For your FastPass+ choices for kids of that age, I recommend thrill rides such as
Space Mountain, the
7 Dwarfs Mine Train, or
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad!
Have a magical time!
