Hi, Kim!
Welcome back to Disney Parks Moms Panel. Thanks so much for sending us your question!
My family and I just got back from our visit to
Walt Disney World, and my teen son and I thoroughly enjoyed his session at
Savi's Workshop - Handbuilt Lightsabers at the Walt Disney World Resort. If your padawan chooses this option, he is going to be absolutely enthralled with his experience, too. A Gatherer will walk your son and other Guests through the storyline, and will narrate throughout this very special experience. The location is out of sight of others, too, so the visit is truly unique. The day we were there, the entire process took less than an hour.
A stop at
Droid Depot at the Walt Disney World Resort is very cool as well, but a bit different than the lightsaber build. Prior to my family's trip, I snuck a peek at the assembly area while shopping nearby. There are parts tucked into every corner of the workshop, and they arrive right in front of your building station via conveyor belt. You can work at your own pace on this one, customizing your droid as you like. My Moms Panel buddies Shantel and Samantha confirm that you can be finished with this process in about 20-30 minutes.
Regarding each, take a look at the minimum age recommendations for both experiences: Savi's Workshop is recommended for ages 5+; Droid Depot is recommended for ages 3+. This may help give you an idea of the complexity of each task. If your teen padawan is only going to choose one, though, I recommend Savi's Workshop.
Regardless of which path he chooses to take, you are both going to love your trip to the planet Batuu at
Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge, an All-New Land! The details throughout are truly out of this world!
Send more questions as you plan, Kim. We love to help!
