Congratulations on planning your very first trip to the Walt Disney World Resort! I'm sure you all can't wait for your magical journey to begin. I would be happy to help you with some ideas, but feel free to come back and elaborate on your desires for the trip. How old are the children? Are they boys and girls? Are you staying on property at the Walt Disney World Resort? What type of dining plan do you have? Are you interested in visiting and/or dining with characters?
There is so much to do and it can feel overwhelming. Even though you've planned a week, set realistic expectations. Believe it or not, you most likely will not "see it all." In addition to all the parks, there are many other destinations like Downtown Disney and miniature golf. The Resorts are destinations as well. Your group may actually prefer having at least a day to enjoy all that your resort had to offer.
I would definitely suggest getting to the parks at opening time. There's so much you can accomplish while much of the "World" is still asleep. Take it slow. It's tempting to want to rush from attraction to attraction, but it really is more enjoyable when you "stop and smell the roses." Take a mid-day break to refresh at your hotel, and come back to finish out the night. Disney's Hollywood Studios, Epcot and Magic Kingdom Park all have fabulous nighttime shows. Check the
park calendars for schedules.

I wish you a MAGICAL vacation, Erica!
