Traveling in January with my FIL who has celiac disease and needs to eat gluten-free or he gets very ill. His camper will allow him to cook a bit but is there someplace I can bring him with good GF options ? Thanks

    Hi Amy!

I love how proactive you are being with your vacation planning! I'm sure your father-in-law appreciates the care and concern you are showing as you plan your family's Walt Disney World Resort vacation!

While they are not as severe as what your father-in-law deals with on a daily bases, we have some food allergies in my family as well. I want to assure you Walt Disney World Resort is very accommodating and the Cast Members are thorough when asking what food allergies and intolerances a Guest has. I think you will be pleasantly surprised by the number of gluten free options available for your father-in-law and other Guests.

I recommend you create a tentative itinerary of your dining plans and then contact Special Dietary Requests at Special.Diets@DisneyWorld.com. The Cast Members are magnificent! Let them know the restaurants where you plan to dine. They will help you navigate through your dining options to ensure your father-in-law has options that are both safe and delicious! Even after getting their input, be sure to talk with a Cast Member at each of the restaurants you select. Make sure they are aware of his special dietary needs. At the table-service locations, typically a Chef or special-diets trained Cast Member will visit you at your table and discuss the allergy with you.

If you are planning to dine at a buffet, you will find allergen guides and alternative menus. Many quick-service restaurants also offer allergy-friendly menu items. While we don't always need them, we typically carry snacks with us just in case we are in a location with limited options. While this is rare, the snacks have come in handy from time to time.

Thanks so much for sharing your very important question with the Disney Parks Moms Panel. I'm excited for you and your family as you plan your vacation! Enjoy every magical moment of your time at Walt Disney World Resort!
