I am traveling with my husband and 2 growing boys (ages 9 & 5) and a 8 m/o during the 1st week of December. I currently have the standard dining plan and I'm trying to decide if I should upgrade to the deluxe. I'm not sure if it's worth the money?

    Teri:

Hold off on upgrading to the Deluxe Dining Plan until your two "growing" boys get grown into football players!!

Seriously, the Deluxe Dining Plan, in my opinion. is serious overkill for families with children!  With 3 sit-down table service meals a day, it's a lot of food. But for a family with children, it also means time out of the parks--approximately 1 1/2 hours on average for my family--per meal. And that's just not what kids want at Disney.

However, if you're being enticed by the Deluxe Plan because you're wanting extra table credits for the special meals (like Hoop Dee Do Revue) that cost 2 credits, book one of these special meals near the end of your vacation, when you're typically full and can skip a meal. Here are some tips I gave another guest to our Mom's Panel on how to make the most of the plan and make skipping that meal to gain a credit a breeze.

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
