Traveling with a gluten intolerant child in February. What do I need to do in order to insure that all of her meals are indeed, gluten free? We are staying at All Star Music and will be using the dining plans.

    Hi Donna!

Thanks for stopping by planDisney with your question - I'm happy to help!

Walt Disney World is known for being incredibly accommodating with food allergies and special dietary needs, so you’re in good hands. Here’s what you need to do to ensure that all of her meals are gluten-free:

When making any dining reservations, whether it’s Table Service or Quick Service, be sure to note that your child has a gluten intolerance. You can do this when booking through the My Disney Experience app or by calling Disney Dining directly. For table service restaurants, your note will alert the kitchen and the chef, who can then prepare a gluten-free meal.

When you arrive at any restaurant, inform the Cast Members, server, or chef about your child’s gluten intolerance. At table service restaurants, a chef or special diets-trained Cast Member will usually come out to speak with you to discuss the gluten-free options available. Since you’re using a dining plan, rest assured that gluten-free options are available and covered under the plan. Just let the server or Cast Member know when ordering, and they’ll guide you to gluten-free selections that fit within your dining plan.

At quick-service locations, they can provide you with an allergy-friendly menu or suggest modifications to existing items. When using Mobile Order at quick-service locations, you can select allergy-friendly options directly in the app. Just choose the gluten/wheat allergy filter when placing your order, and you’ll see the available choices.

Disney also has a Special Diets team that can assist with any specific dietary concerns. You can email them at Special.Diets@DisneyWorld.com about your trip to discuss your daughter’s specific needs. They can provide guidance and even send you a form to fill out in advance, which will help ensure that every restaurant is aware of your needs.

While Disney is great about accommodating dietary needs, it’s always a good idea to pack a few of your child’s favorite gluten-free snacks for the parks! This ensures you have safe options on hand in case you need them between meals.

Intermission Food Court at Disney's All-Star Music Resort has a variety of gluten-free options. When ordering, let the Cast Members know about your child’s gluten intolerance, and they’ll prepare her meal safely. The food court can accommodate gluten-free requests, including pizzas, pastas, and other favorites.

Disney goes above and beyond to ensure that guests with dietary restrictions have a magical dining experience, so you can feel confident that your child’s meals will be gluten-free and delicious. I hope this helps reassure you as you plan your magical Walt Disney World vacation!
