I am traveling for the first time to Disney with my 4 yr old Daughter for her 5th birthday, Nov 2012 and I am on a serious budget. Are there any tips for budgeting for this trip hotel & food cost, tickets cost, anything to save$ and she have the best

    Hi, Kimberly!

There are many great ways to save on your Walt Disney World vacation!  Let's start with booking:  look for SPECIAL OFFERS and book a standard room at a Value Resort.  Stick with base tickets without adding on options such as park hopping or water parks.  You will not need to rent a car, as there is free transportation via Disney's Magical Express to and from the airport as well as free transportation around WDW property.

Your next round to saving will be done at home!  Bring a stroller as well as a tote bag with snacks, refillable water bottles, autograph books, pens, hats, sunscreen, camera, and rain ponchos.  All of this can be purchased at the parks, but you will save a bundle by bringing these items from home.

To save on food, stick to the quick service locations.  Kids meals are a great value and include sides and a drink.  Cups of ice water are always free, so stay away from expensive soda and bottled water.  Stick to snacks that can be shared, like buckets of popcorn.  For a healthy snack, fresh fruit is available around the parks for around $1.29 per piece (prices subject to change.)

Souvenirs can get pricey, so maybe give your daughter a Disney Gift Card for her birthday gift so she knows exactly how much she can spend in the gift shops.  I like to purchase my Disney Gift Cards ahead of time at my local grocery store. It is a great way to save for the trip by purchasing them in small amounts during the weeks/months leading up to my vacation.

Good luck planning and wish your princess a very happy birthday!
