We are traveling to DW with our 15 month old in two weeks. Of course he isn't walking yet and now we are stuck with having a crawler while we wait in lines/watch parades etc. What are your thoughts on putting him in a hiking backpack for lines etc... ?

    Hi Alexandra!

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! I'm excited that your little Mouseketeer will be meeting Mickey and his pals so soon! We first brought our son to Walt Disney World Resort when he was 14-months-old and had just learned to walk, but wasn't super steady at it yet. Disney is totally doable at this age and stage, and your whole family is going to have a blast!

I think you should bring every tool in your arsenal to help contain, distract and pacify your son. Strollers are still pretty awesome at this age during a Disney Day, both as a place to nap and as a seat at Quick-Service Dining Locations where high chairs can be hard to find. However, strollers are not allowed in attraction and ride queues, but carriers are, so this is a solid plan.

But don't stop there. Bring your diaper bag with you while you wait, or go one step further and create a smaller 'Line Bag' that has just distraction items, a sippy cup and snacks. Bubbles are a classic, but we also packed a small book and a few of his favorites, which all made waiting more tolerable. Pro Tip: Don't get a FastPass+ for Dumbo the Flying Elephant as the standby queue is actually a play area for both toddlers and bigger kids. You'll get a restaurant-style pager that will buzz when it's your turn to fly, and best of all there are plenty of benches for parents.

My son LOVES "p-wades", so we're that family who stakes out our seats an hour ahead of time. Definitely bring a blanket to sit on, and have one member of your family sit with your spots while the other walks your little guy around during the wait. The bubbles, books and small toys will come in handy here, too.

Pro Tip: Check out all of the Disney Parks Moms Panel videos for more tips for little ones!

We'll See You Real Soon, Alexandra!
