We are traveling to DW for the first time in September to celebrate my son's 6th birthday. I am trying to make plans but it is so overwhelming. I don't know whether we should stay on site or do a vacation rental. Other special bday recommendations?

    Hi, Angie!

I’m happy to hear you’re planning a vacation to the Walt Disney World Resort! There’s nothing quite like the magic of that first visit, and it will be even more special since you’re celebrating a special occasion.

I recommend staying at a Walt Disney World Resort Hotel so you can enjoy the many benefits offered only to Guests who stay on-site. You’ll be able to take advantage of Disney’s Magical Express service to and from the airport, with your luggage delivered directly to the resort. Resort transportation—like a bus, boat or the monorail—to the theme parks is also reserved for Guests of Walt Disney World Resort Hotels. Another perk is Extra Magic Hours, when a park opens early or stays open after the scheduled closing time exclusively for resort hotel Guests. Plus, the resorts are wonderfully themed, which means you never have to leave the magic! Whether you are looking for a luxurious deluxe resort, an affordable value resort, or a resort that offers family suites, there's a choice that's right for every family. Also, keep in mind that only Guests of Walt Disney World Resort Hotels are able to purchase the Disney Dining Plan.

Disney Floral & Gifts can help you celebrate by arranging for Disney gifts and surprises to be delivered to your room. There are many gift baskets and bouquets to choose from that can be customized to a special occasion, favorite Disney character or theme. Your room can even be decorated to kick off the celebration with some extra magic! Call the Dream Makers at (407) WDW-GIFT (939-4438) for details. Be sure to pick up a complimentary birthday button for your son. You can also order a custom cake to be enjoyed after lunch or dinner at most table-service restaurants as a birthday surprise by calling (407) 827-2253.

Please write back with more questions as your planning continues, Angie!

    Wishing you magic,
