We are traveling to DW in Dec for our first Disney vacation with our kids who will be 7, 2, & 1 at the time of travel. We are staying at Coronado Springs. Is the dining plan a good option for our family? do you have any tips for our first Disney experi

    Hi Cassi!

Congratulations on your first trip to Walt Disney World!  Disney's Coronado Springs Resort is a wonderful place to stay, with a beautiful swimming pool, wonderful dining options, and extensive grounds.  Make sure you take a stroller, as this is a huge resort and you will probably find yourself doing quite a bit of walking.

The Disney Dining Plan has proven to be a wonderful option for our family over the years.  We have been able to enjoy some amazing dining experiences within the Parks and Resorts, creating special memories along the way.  This is especially true of the Character Dining experiences.  The Disney Dining Plan has made it much more affordable for us to enjoy these.

And a good thing for your family is that there is no charge for your children under the age of 3, as they are expected to dine from your adult plate.  So, you will only need to purchase the plan for yourselves and your oldest child.  The other two will get to tag along to the Character Dining for "free"!

We have found the best option for us is the regular Disney Dining Plan, which includes one Quick Service Meal, one Table Service Meal, and one Snack option per day.  We have found that it is impossible for us to eat all of the food on the larger plans.  However, if you are "foodies," and plan to spend a great deal of your visit sampling all of the gastronomic delights along the way, then I say go for it, and get the Deluxe or Premium Dining Plans.  You will be able to enjoy just about anything you want that way, and more!

As for tips, I would suggest you make your Advanced Dining Reservations as early as possible. You can do this as early as 180 days ahead of your visit.   Please feel free to come back to ask us more questions as you plan.  We love to help!
