    We will be traveling to Disney World staying at Port Orleans Riverside in June and will be driving from Ohio (I know,,,ugh!)..I printed out our trip from Mapquest and as soon as we turn on Orleans Dr. it says "gate access required." What does th

    Hello Tamra!  I am so excited to here that you're planning a vacation to Walt Disney World!  Wow!!!  Did you say June?  I'll bet you're getting so excited!  I must say that I'm excited for you!!!  Some of my favorite family memories involve road trips to Disney, so be sure to take lots of pictures and videos along the way because you never know when that priceless moment will occur on a long car trip!


    My family just had the pleasure of staying at our favorite Moderate Resort, Port Orleans Riverside last month and we had an absolute blast!  I just love the laid back and relaxing atmosphere and my daughter can't get enough of Ol' Man Island, the awesome pool and recreation area.  It truly can't be beat!

    So to answer your question, gate access just means that you will have to stop at the security gate each time you enter the resort.  When you arrive for check-in, a friendly gate guard will step out to verify that you are checking in!  Once you give your name, you will be flagged through and directed to the Sassagoula Steamboat Company building where you will check-in for your reservation.

    Once your all checked in, you will be able to use your Key to the World Card (room key) to open the "registered guests" gate on future trips.  When you arrive, proceed to the right hand lane and enter your card when prompted.  The gate will open automatically!  Or if you prefer, you can show your card to the gate attendant to be flagged through!
