We will be traveling to Disney World soon with our 4 year old. Wondering what would be best to purchase before we come to the Park so that we have a memorable trip without breaking the bank. Thank you!

Hello Dawn!  Thanks for asking your great question here at the Disney Parks Moms Panel.  When my family and I visit Walt Disney World, we always try to save some money wherever we can.

I am not sure if you have a son or daughter but my first money saving tip for you is to bring your own dress up clothes.  My daughter loves to look like a princess when we go to the parks but the dresses are expensive.  I always head to my local Disney Store to grab a dress for her to wear when it is on sale. Boys like dressing up too, I see a lot of pirates walking around Magic Kingdom.  You can always grab a pirate outfit ahead of time to save some money as well.  If you are planning on getting autographs from the characters, you are probably going to want to purchase an autograph book and pen.  Purchasing the autograph book at Walt Disney World can be fun because they have the characters on them and sometimes the year.  We normally wait to purchase this at Walt Disney World, but I do bring a thicker marker or pen that the characters can easily hold.  I also head to our local dollar store before our trip and grab a few packages of glow sticks and glow necklaces for my daughter to have during the nighttime shows.  There are going to be a lot of fun things for sale that light up when it gets dark but I find my daughter doesn't even notice if she has some glow sticks of her own to wear and play with.  We also bring juice boxes and cans of soda in a small soft sided cooler to the parks with us.  This saves us so much money.  If you don't want to drag around a small cooler with you all day, you can go to any counter service location and ask for a free glass of ice water.  The Cast Member will happily give you a large cup full of ice cold water free of charge!

I hope this gives you a few ideas on what to bring to save some money on your vacation.  If you have any other questions, please ask!

Meet the Panelist: Jackie, North Carolina

I love all things Walt Disney World.  In fact, since becoming Annual Passholders, my family of 3 is always hopping in the car for a quick trip to visit with Mickey Mouse!  I've been known to make the 8 hour each way drive to Walt Disney World (in one day!) to indulge in a Mickey Waffle or enjoy a sunny day at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park.  I may have a small family, but we are always up for some BIG fun at the Walt Disney World Resort.   Learn More About Jackie
