Dallie from AR Asked Please note that experiences, policies, pricing and other offerings are subject to change and may have changed since the date of this answer.

Hello. We are traveling to Disney World soon. One member of our party cannot make it back to the US. How do I cancel his prepaid reservation for dining? I can remove him from his park ticket on MDE but how long will that ticket be good for after I do?

Hey howdy hey Dallie and welcome to planDisney!

So exciting that you will be visiting the Most Magical Place on Earth in a few short days! Sorry to hear about one member of your party not being able to join you, but let's see what we can do about these reservations and tickets. First thing to be mindful of is the policy for the prepaid dining reservations which should be outlined on your email confirmation. Some dining experiences, like Cinderella's Royal Table in Magic Kingdom, do require full payment at the time of reservation booking however it is fully refundable if the cancellation is made greater than 48 hours prior to your reservation. Timing is key with this one. Considering that you are cancelling just one of the party members and not the whole party, the easiest way to do this is by calling Disney Dining at (407) 939-3463 and a Cast Member will be able to help you through this process.

With regard to the ticket, you have more time and flexibility with this. In changing the ticket date, you can easily get this done through your My Disney Experience account or on your My Disney Experience app. After you log in, you should see the heading Tickets and Passes, on the app you will have to hit the three horizontal lines in the bottom right corner first. Select the ticket you want to modify and then hit Change Ticket. Here you will see the valid dates that you can change the ticket to. Roughly you have a calendar year to change them to via the site or the app. If the date is farther out, you can call Disney Ticket line at (407) 939-1289 and speak to a Cast Member to get the amount of the ticket paid applied to another ticket at a later time. Also be aware that if you change a ticket to a day where ticket prices are more expensive, you will be charged the difference in the price.

Good luck with your continued planning for your upcoming trip and if you have any further questions, please feel free to reach out, we love talking all things Walt Disney World Resort here at planDisney!

    Happy planning,
