I will be traveling to Disney World in May with my husband and 1 year old daughter to celebrate her very FIRST birthday... Were should we start? What should we do? Please no dining suggestions..we have that part covered. THANKS!

    Hi Jamie,

How great to be taking your little one to Walt Disney World for her first birthday!  Be sure to stop by Guest Relations at any of the Walt Disney World theme parks to get a "Happy Birthday" button free of charge.  Although no special treatment is guaranteed with the birthday button, you never know when a cast member might sprinkle some extra pixie dust on her special day.  It is also really fun to hear cast members and guests wishing your little one a happy birthday all day long.  It might also be fun to decorate her stroller with birthday-themed items, and be sure that she is wearing a birthday outfit.

I know you said no dining suggestions, but how about a cake suggestion?  You can call the Disney Cake Hotline at 407-827-2253. You can work with the cast members there to customize a cake for your daughter's birthday.  When we celebrated my daughter's 7th birthday at Walt Disney World, we had a chocolate cake in the shape of Minnie Mouse's head delivered to our villa at Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort.  It was delicious!  can find out more about ordering cakes at Walt Disney World by visiting the unofficial site disneyfoodblog.com.  Once you are there, search for "cake hotline FAQ."

Finally, you can work with a dream maker at Disney Floral and Gifts to customize a gift for your daughter's birthday.  They have so many amazing packages, including plush animals, balloons, treats, and so much more.  On her birthday at Walt Disney World, we had a plush Minnie Mouse holding a big bouquet of balloons delivered to my daughter.  She was delighted.  Once you have perused their website, I suggest that you call a Dream Maker at 407-WDW-GIFT (407-939-4438) to customize a gift for your little one.

Have a great time planning, Jamie, and please do not hesitate to ask if you have any further questions.
