We are traveling to disney world late this August and have narrowed down our resorts to the Port Orleans princess room or a room at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. Which would be more fun for a 4 y/o girl and 16 month old boy?

    Hello Claire!

Thank you for visiting the Disney Parks Moms Panel! This question was a tough one for me. Normally, I always say Animal Kingdom Lodge, because I love it so much! I'll tell you why I would choose them both, and then you can decide what matches your personal preferences and needs best.

I love the majestic lobby at the Animal Kingdom Lodge's Jambo House. Simply put, it's breathtaking. My children love watching the exotic animals in the savanna areas on the comfy rocking chairs around the resort. Sometimes they even get to see the animals from the balcony of our room if we book a Savanna view! Also the Animal Kingdom Lodge boasts some of the best dining options on property such as Boma and Jiko. The Uzima Springs pool is a zero-depth entry pool which is essential for some of my Nemos who don't have lucky fins to help them swim.

Now the main reason I did not automatically choose Animal Kingdom Lodge is because I think your daughter would love the Royal Guest Rooms at Disney's Port Orleans Resort-Riverside. I have 5 princesses, and I know they would squeal with delight to have a room designed after Princess Tiana and her friends! There are many royal touches such as princess artwork, Aladdin's carpet, and magical headboards filled with lights that give the illusion of a fireworks display! The resort itself is beautiful, too, and you can catch a boat ride to Downtown Disney.

I think your 16-month-old will be happy at either resort if given the chance to run and do some exploring! I hope I have made your decision somewhat easier. Really though, you have narrowed your choices down to two wonderful resorts that will provide fun for the whole family!

If you have any other questions, please ask away! I wish you a magical, fantastical vacation!
