Hello, I am traveling to Disney World in June with my best friend for our birthdays! We have booked a standard room at the Art of Animation resort. Is there a way to request a room with the two queen beds?

Hi There Katlyn! Welcome to planDisney?

A birthday trip to Walt Disney World Resort? Now that is my kind of celebration! Speaking of celebration, did you know that Walt Disney World Resort is celebrating a birthday of its own, and YOU get to join the party? You'll be visiting during Walt Disney World's 50th Anniversary Celebration. How fabulous! There is so much to enjoy during this special time, but to me, nothing tops the stunning Beacons of Magic at all four theme parks. You've never seen the theme park icons quite like this, transformed into a glimmering EARidescent rainbow of colors and magic. I'll tell you, the first time I saw them, they took my breath away!

I'm so excited to hear you will be staying at Disney's Art of Animation Resort. It's such a gorgeous resort, and let's not forget about the easy access to Disney Skyliner! You'll soar to new heights and enjoy fabulous views of Walt Disney World as you're whisked off to one of the awesome destinations on the Disney Skyliner route. If you have a chance to do so, I would recommend taking a ride on the Disney Skyliner over to Disney's Riviera Resort to enjoy breakfast with Mickey and his friends at my favorite spot, Topolino's Terrace – Flavors of the Riviera. This is the perfect spot for a special birthday breakfast! Just make sure you secure an Advanced Dining Reservation ahead of your visit. You can start making reservations via the My Disney Experience app 60 days before your check-in date. Plus, as an added benefit of staying at a Disney Resorts Collection hotel, you can book reservations for your entire stay that same day!

Now, to your question, Katlyn. You can absolutely request a room with two beds, but there is no way to guarantee this request will be fulfilled as it depends on the availability during your stay. To submit this request, you will want to use the awesome Online Check-In service, available 60 days prior to our arrival. You can do this by completing the following steps:

    • Log into your My Disney Experience app.
    • Select the menu on the bottom right corner (three stacked lines).
    • Click on "Resort Hotel." You should see your hotel reservation here.
    • Select "Start Check-In"
    • There will be a drop-down menu during this process where you can request a room preference and select the bed configuration from the menu.
    • Complete the prompts for the Online Check-In, and you are all set!

While there is no guarantee, I would recommend submitting your room preference as early as possible, and they will do their best to meet your request. It might also be helpful to give the Disney Resort Hotel Reservations team a call and submit the request there as well. You can reach them at (407) 939-1936.

Katlyn, I am so excited for you to celebrate your birthday at Walt Disney World. I just know this is going to be one you won't soon forget, and I hope you have the most magical vacation!

    See you real soon!
