i am traveling to Disney World In January with 15 friends/family to run in the Marathon Weekend. We will be a large group of 20. We want to make it fun and do some planning but don't want to "overplan" Any helpful hints, suggestions, or ideas

Hi Michelle!  I love big family/friend trips to Disney!  You are smart to have a few things planned, but you want to be flexible enough so everyone can do what they want to do.

When I travel with a large group, I generally make one or two large group dining reservations.  A character meal is always fun, but any restaurant you choose would be fine.  We make the dining reservation our meet up point.  Since there are different ages and interests in large parties, everyone can go their own way and then we can meet up for a meal and spend some time together.    After the meal, we usually all hang out for a while and then separate again with plans to meet up for the nighttime parade and fireworks. Usually grandma or grandpa are more than willing to scout out parade viewing areas and save spots for the family to all meet up.

Another fun idea would be to schedule a Pirates and Pals Fireworks Voyage for everyone.  This would be a magical way to celebrate and have everyone get together!  Here is a link to some large party planning advice on the Disney World website.  And here is a link to some fun ideas to help celebrate your trip to Disney!
