Hi Carrie, welcome back to planDisney!
EPCOT is the center of the Disney100 Celebration at Walt Disney World Resort. Its multi-year transformation has given us out-of-this-world dining at Space 220, the groundbreaking Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, and a meet and greet with fan-favorite Figment. The Disney100-themed display on Spaceship Earth each night is what really tugs at my nostalgic heartstrings.
EPCOT's newest experience, Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana, is now open to all Guests. The heart of Te Fiti is found in the heart of World Nature, which requires you to go right after Spaceship Earth as you enter the main entrance of the park. I can't wait to visit this experience in a few days and have been keeping an eye on the official Walt Disney World Resort website for updates. Here's what we know about how Guests are accessing this experience:
- A Virtual Queue may be used. Using the My Disney Experience mobile app (three small lines at the bottom right of the app's homepage > Virtual Queues), you can join the Journey of Water virtual queue beginning at 9:00 a.m. and must be inside EPCOT. The virtual queue part of the app will also let you know if the virtual queue is not required and the standby queue is available. For reference, a virtual boarding group was used on opening day and filled up around 1:00 p.m.
- This experience is available during early theme park entry and extended evening hours for Disney Resort hotel Guests. The early birds and night owls get exclusive access to this self-paced experience with smaller crowds throughout the park.
The beauty on display throughout Journey of Water's self-paced exploration trail is visible in sunlight and moonlight. For your November trip, I recommend a daytime visit, especially if you plan on getting wet. You are encouraged to interact with the water in innovative ways throughout the experience, and sunlight is nature's heater and dryer. You can only request to enter the Journey of Water virtual queue once per day during regular park hours, but if logistics work out, I encourage you to visit again at night. The well-lit landscape is reminiscent of
Pandora - The World of Avatar's bioluminescence at Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park.
I hope you enjoy experiencing the wonders of water at Journey of Water next month, Carrie. Water connects us all and I hope to connect with you again soon!
Choose magic,
Jennifer
