Hi Kristy!
Great question! My boys aren't that far apart in age, but my husband and I have always liked a little extra space on vacations, simply because it IS a vacation!
We have always booked a one-bedroom villa at a
Disney Vacation Club Resort. You don't have to be a member of the vacation club to book them. Our favorite resorts are the Beach Club Resort and the Boardwalk, but that's because we love to be so close to Epcot (our favorite park).
The villas are a little pricier than a standard room, but we think it's worth it! There is a living room with a pull -out sofa bed, a full kitchen, a master bedroom and a huge bathroom. We really utilize the kitchen by using one of our packed suitcases for food items we can bring with us. (pop-tarts, pasta, granola bars, mac and cheese, etc.) This lets us eat at least one meal per day in the room, usually breakfast, and in my opinion, saves a big chunk of money. As a bonus, that leaves us with an empty suitcase to use for souvenirs we bought for the trip home.
There are also great
family suites available at the Art of Animation Resort. It has a similar style set-up and the themes are amazing!
I hope this helps you choose the perfect resort. Please let me know if you have any other questions.
