We are traveling to Disney World for our first time May 3-10. Can we take backpacks, coolers into parks? If so, can you take backpacks, cameras on rides and attractions? What are the most important items to take into parks? Is there resting/picnic areas?

    Hi April -

Early May is my favorite time to visit Walt Disney World!

You can take backpacks and coolers into the parks, as long as they aren't rolling coolers. Glass and alcohol are not permitted. In most cases, you can take backpacks and cameras on the attractions, but I'd definitely recommend keeping cameras off of the water rides like Splash Mountain and Kali River Rapids. You'll find plenty of nice shaded areas to sit and rest in all of the parks.

Since you are traveling in May, I definitely recommend bringing along sunscreen with you. The sun gets very hot and you'll need to reapply throughout the day. You may also want to bring water - freeze bottles overnight and they'll stay cool longer.

    Have a great vacation!
