    We will be traveling to Disney World in December 2021. It is the only time of year we visit. We love it! My question is do we need magic bands? Everything I read sounds like they are being phased out? So are they necessary for our visit? Thank you!

    I sure agree with you, Tami! There is something extra special about visiting the Walt Disney World Resort at Christmastime! The Disney Parks, as well as the hotels in the Disney Resorts Collection, know the perfect ways to bring a little extra magic to the Most Magical Place on Earth!

    What you have read about MagicBands is partially correct. While not technically being phased out, MagicBands are no longer needed to enjoy your vacation! The Walt Disney World Resort has introduced Disney Mobile Magic! This can be downloaded to your cellular device as part of your My Disney Experience account! Disney Mobile Magic carries many of the same benefits offered by MagicBands!

    MagicBands are still available but are no longer complimentary with a Walt Disney World Resort vacation. You can use a previously used MagicBand or you can purchase a new MagicBand. If using a previously used band, just be sure that it is not older than two years old. If you would prefer to not use a MagicBand or Disney Mobile Magic, you can also request a Key to the World card from the front desk of your hotel.
