We will be traveling to Disney World by car, and staying for 9 nights starting August 30th. We've heard that lovebugs can be a real problem in FL this time of year. What do we need to know?

Hi Kathleen - Ah, the first Lovebug question I have seen on the Moms Panel!

Let me start by saying that I live in Florida and am pretty familiar with these lovebugs.   You are right in that you may run into a few of these bugs (literally) during your drive to Disney.   I find they show up mysteriously during early and late summer, including September.

That said, these bugs are generally harmless and should be nothing to be concerned about.   They don't bite and really are not much of a nuisance other than they can make a mess of the front of your car.     I find that I have to wash my car once or twice during this time of year to get them off.    So I personally believe you won't find these lovebugs to be much of a real problem at all.   Enjoy your upcoming trip!
