We are traveling to Disney and have been told over and over in the dead heat (July). It's our first trip and I'm starting to get a little nervous about the anticipated heat. Any recommendations on keeping cool?

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Marisol!

Thank you for directing your question my way! As an Orlando local, I’m familiar with the warm Florida Summers. It’s always a good idea to come prepared for the weather, and down here that will include a few refreshing afternoon showers and sunny and warm days with a decent amount of humidity. But as Timon Pumbaa would say, hakuna matata; no worries! A warm day at the Walt Disney World Resort is more magical than a day anywhere else!

Pack light, breathable-fabric clothing. Ponchos are also great to have. Those afternoon rain showers often chase guests away. But if you can hang in there, you might experience some extra magic in shorter wait times.

It’s also nice to have a reservation booked for a sit-down lunch where you can rest, re-fuel, and cool off when the temps are soaring. No reservation, no worries! There are several quick service options that offer inside seating like my family’s favorite, Sunshine Seasons, located inside The Land in Epcot. This food court style quick service location offers a variety of food choices for the family so everyone will find something they can enjoy.

Frozen treats are also a great way to cool off and enjoy a delicious Disney snack!  Did you know food is allowed at Magic Kingdom’s classic attraction, Walt Disney's Enchanted Tiki Room? I love grabbing a DOLE WHIP® at Aloha Isle then heading on over to this classic, air-conditioned attraction that delights the entire family!

Last but not least, hydrate! You can enjoy complimentary ice water from any quick service food location so simply walk up to the counter and ask. For some additional tips, the Disney Parks Blog recently posted about this very topic!

I hope this info is helpful! Wishing you a magical first visit! ~Emille
