I am traveling to disney with my 17 month old son. I had the "custom" maps made by Disney highlighting attractions for kids. Although I have these I am still wondering if anyone knows what rides children his age can go on and/or other useful info

    Hi Katy,

My top recommendation for a 17 month old is the Magic Kingdom (MK). There are so many fun attractions there that you'll both love. Your son can ride any of the attractions where he meets the height requirements (HRs). You can find a list of the attractions with HRs by visiting the Traveling with Little Ones section on the Disney World Website. There you will find a PDF file on the right side of that page that lists attractions at all of the theme parks that have HRs.

My top attractions for a 17 month old at the MK would include Dumbo, Minnie Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, "it's a small world", Peter Pan's Flight, the Walt Disney World Railroad & the Magic Carpets of Aladdin. The Move It! Shake It! Celebrate It! Street Party is fun for Guests of all ages (check Times Guides when you enter the park for performance times).

You know your son better than anyone, but keep in mind that just because an attraction doesn't have a HR, doesn't mean that every child should ride it. Haunted Mansion is a great example of this - there is no HR but its dark & once you're on, there is no great way to get off of this 7 minute & 30 second ride.

Bring something to help keep him entertained in line - favorite small toys, snack, bubbles, etc. Be sure to give him breaks from his stroller. Try (it will be hard) to stick to his nap time. Take advantage of the Baby Care Centers located in each theme park.  Click here for some tips on strollers.

Let me know if you have any questions about any specific attractions - I'm super happy to assist you. Wishing you many magical memories :-) Allison
