Hi, Adrienne!
You and your little prince are going to have such a great time experiencing the magic of Walt Disney World! For convenience, you might want to choose a resort close to a park, such as the Contemporary where you can walk to the Magic Kingdom or the Yacht or Beach Club where you can walk to Epcot. These are
Deluxe Resorts that are the ultimate in luxury, but also the most expensive. The rooms are large and the pools are elaborate with pool slides.
Not as convenient (bus transportation to all parks) but cheaper and still full of magic are the
Moderate and
Value Resorts. These usually fit the budget better and can be a lot of fun for kids.
I think a nice compromise is
Port Orleans French Quarter, a Moderate Resort. There is a fun pool slide, games at the pool for kids, a game room, and a nice food court. Just a short walk away is sister resort Port Orleans Riverside where you can do catch-and-release fishing. Also at French Quarter is boat transportation to Downtown Disney which is a lot of fun.
Regardless of where you decide to stay, I hope you and your son have a wonderful vacation full of wonderful memories to last a lifetime! Enjoy!
