Hi, We will be traveling on the Disney Fantasy on the 7 night Eastern Caribbean cruise. I've been doing my homework and have questions about the "light card" they mention. What are they , do we need them?

Ahoy, Mary Jo! Thank you for sailing on in with your question - we are absolutely deLIGHTed to help!

Disney Cruise Line has some of the most beautiful and modern ships sailing right now, and the goal is both comfort and eco-responsibility. That's why you'll see signs in your stateroom about reusing towels, and you'll find water bottle refilling stations.

In your stateroom aboard the majestic Disney Fantasy, you'll notice right away that the eco-friendly nature of the ship requires you to have a light card in order to operate the lights in your stateroom. The light card is simply a card placed into a slot by your door that allows you to turn your stateroom lights on. Disney Cruise Line recommends using your room key, however, I learned the hard way that it's fairly easy to lock yourself out. I have lost count of how many times I've gotten to the hallway or the elevator and realized I left my room key in the slot to work the lights.

You alternatively can use an old hotel room key, a loyalty card from the grocery store, a gym membership card, or a library card - most cards of that type will work. I actually purchased a card online for less than $2 that has a small magnet at the top, so when I take the card out of the slot, I can just put it right on the wall above the light switch. It's super handy to have when you come back in the evening.

I hope your Disney Fantasy voyage is filled with magical, memorable moments!
