We are traveling on Disney Dream next week with our 1-year-old: - she doesn't sleep well in a pack-n-play ... are there other options - my parents will be in the room next store; would a monitor work btwn rooms - should I bring my own stroller

    Hi Marla!

I have been on 3 cruises when our kids were babies (9 months, 6months & 2 years). And (I'm gonna be honest) it is a hard sleeping arrangement. The rooms are so small that even if you have a pack-n-play, the only spot for you to be in while they are sleeping is your bed!

When my kids were in the pack-n-play for naps, we'd just put it right on top of the bed and then pull the curtain so we could sit on the couch and (quietly) watch TV or read. The steward even moved the table out of our cabin to give us more room. (Of course, if you have a big cushy room, you might be able to do more. We only had a teeny tiny cabin!) And for bedtime, they started out in the pack/play or pull out couch and then ended up sleeping with us most of the time.

As far as a baby monitor? I have not tried it but read different reviews online--some worked and some didn't. My thought? You can hear babies crying from 3 rooms down! So, if your kid was crying, you'd hear it in the next room---especially with the trained ear of a parent!

I would definitely bring your own stroller--just an umbrella will be enough. You'll use it on and off the boat!

    Enjoy your trip!
