    I will be traveling to Disney in December 2014 with 16 guests (9 adults, 6 kids, 1 infant). I'm trying to decide if I should get two villas at Old Key West, three family suites at Art of Animation, or three rooms at Port Orleans. Thoughts?

    Hi Ryne,

    Traveling with a large party can be so much fun. Part of your decision will depend on which resort appeals to you in theme, as well as of course consideration of cost. Let me offer you some thoughts on the configurations of the accommodations that you are considering in order to help with your decision. Depending on the smaller units that make up your larger travel party, the configuration can make a big difference in which you will choose.

    At Disney's Port Orleans Resort - Riverside, you would need three rooms. Each room will have two queen beds and one bunk-size pull down bed (you will need to specify that you need rooms for five people). The infant could also sleep in one of these rooms. You would have three bedrooms and three bathrooms. At approximately 314 square feet each, your total square footage here would be 942 square feet.

    At Disney's Art of Animation Resort, you would need three family suites. Each will have one queen bed in the bedroom, one double-size table bed and one double-size sleeper sofa in the living area. With three family suites, you would end up with three bedrooms, six bathrooms, and three living areas, as well a three kitchenettes. Each suite is approximately 565 square feet, so your total square footage would be about 1695 square feet.

    At Disney's Old Key West Resort, you would need two two-bedroom villas. Each would have one king-size bed in one bedroom, two queen-size beds in another bedroom, as well as one queen-size sleeper sofa and one sleeper chair in the living area. You would have four bedrooms, four bathrooms, two living areas, two full kitchens, and two washers and dryers. At about 1395 square feet each, your total square footage would be 2,790 square feet.

    If I was making this decision, I would choose Disney's Old Key West Resort; however, you need to decide which option is right for your unique family. I hope that the thoughts above are helpful for you in making this decision!
