Hi, we are traveling to Disney in December and would like to celebrate my Nephew's father-in-law's birthday with the illuminations cruise. Our group is 5 adults and 2 children (ages 4 and 1). Do you recommend taking young children on this cruise?

The Illuminations cruise is one of my favorite things to do for any visit to Walt Disney World!  I can only say from personal experience that my grandson has loved this as much as the adults.  I think the boat ride is what he has enjoyed the most and he is now three.

The entire trip is about an hour with the first 30 minutes taking a short trip down to the entrance of Hollywood Studios.  It is quite beautiful at night with all the lights reflecting off the water.  You will then head back towards EPCOT and enjoy the Boardwalk area before mooring under the bridge that connects the United Kingdom and France areas of the World Showcase.  If the wind is blowing in your direction you can get some soot from the fireworks and the noise will tend to be louder.  However, we have never seen our grandchildren afraid and they have been on this cruise since they were less then a year old.  Children are very different and you would have to decide if the noise might affect them before deciding to bring them along.  You have a wonderful unobstructed view and not any closer then if you were standing on the bridge or along the waters edge.  The difference is that once you are docked you have to stay and can't move away.

The boats come complete with drinks and snacks and you are also able to order from private dining at the Yacht Club resort anything else you might want to include for the voyage!
