Ahoy, Michelle!
Thanks for sailing back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel with this excellent question! Planning a voyage to the Bahamas or Caribbean aboard Disney Cruise Line is so exciting! Your family of pirates will love participating in all the
onboard activities offered each day. I get so excited each evening of our cruise to check the Personal Navigator newsletter for all the following day's activities!
It's so important to make sure you have all the correct travel documentation prior to setting sail! Currently, children under the age of 16, who are U.S. citizens, sailing on a roundtrip voyage from a U.S. port and returning to that same U.S. port, do not need a passport to set sail aboard Disney Cruise Line! An original (or copy) of their state-issued birth certificate is all they'll need as their proof of citizenship. If you have a kiddo who is 16 or older, they will need a copy or original of their state-issued birth certificate and a government-issued photo ID for proof of citizenship for roundtrip voyages setting sail from a U.S. port. Prior to your voyage, I highly recommend looking at the
Passport & Travel Documentation page on Disney Cruise Line's website, just to make sure you have the most up to date information regarding the correct documentation needed to cruise with Captain Mickey.
Even though passports aren't required for all itineraries, I highly recommend each member of your party having one! In the unlikely event of an emergency while visiting a port of call, your entire family can fly back to the U.S. with ease.
