I will be traveling to Disney in Aug. 2011, with my 5 year old twins. I can't decide between Animal Kingdom or Contempoary. Convenience and cost are issues. ANy advice?

    Hi Stacy!

From a convenience issue, it's hard to beat the Contemporary.  Not only is it on the Magic Kingdom monorail line, making it relatively easy to reach both the Magic Kingdom and Epcot (via a transfer to the Epcot line at the Transportation and Ticket Center), but you can also walk to the Magic Kingdom from the Contemporary in about 5 to 10 minutes.

Animal Kingdom Lodge is a beautiful resort and I think most young guests would prefer the theming there, and the animals, over the theming of the Contemporary.  However, Animal Kingdom Lodge is "remote" compared to the rest of the Walt Disney World Resort.  If you don't have a car, you can expect to spend more time on a bus.

If you are not going to spend much time in your hotel and cost is an issue, you might consider a Disney Moderate Resort instead.  My favorite is Port Orleans Riverside, especially the Alligator Bayou section.  I think it's a beautiful resort.  It offers boat service to Downtown Disney and bus service everywhere else..

Good luck with your decision and write back if you have any more questions!
