We are traveling in Dec. 08 and are on DDP. I understand how the meals work, already made all our ADR. How do the snacks work--by price or specific items? I read somewhere you can go downtown and buy candies for snack credits to take home? Thanks.

    Hi Lisa,

The snack options are a bit difficult to explain, but I will try my best!  Snack Options are listed on the Dining Plan brochure as specific items to choose from but it has been my experience that as long as it's an item which is less than $4.00 ($3.99 and under) and it is not something in a container that can be used as a souvenir later on, then it can be used as a snack option on the dining plan (this is not always the case but it applies to most items I have found).  I have redeemed these snack credits for candy at either Goofy's Candy Co. located in Downtown Disney, Marketplace (this is my favorite location to choose from!) or from other gift shops located Within Walt Disney World.  As long as your item is under $4.00 then you should be okay and these bags of candy or other candy items such as lollipops, chocolate gold coins, gummies, etc.... really come in handy for when you are at home and need them for example to add to loot bags for your child's birthday parties or just as a nice gift for someone else that normally you would have to purchase (out of pocket) or even just to have a nice treat at home to remind you of your great WDW trip!

These snack credits are also good for using on Mickey rice crispy treats, fruit, yoghurts, etc...for your airplane trip home (now that most flights don't offer anything to eat while traveling home), you'll be happy that you have these snacks to munch on when you are getting a bit hungry during your flight.  I hope this helps a bit with your options and I have found the cast members to be very helpful in making suggestions or clarifying the details for you...so don't be shy and ask if you want to know anything at all!

    Have a magical day!
