Hello, Amanda! You’ve come to the right place with your Disney Cruise Line questions. I’m happy to help!
You’re going to have such an amazing vacation with your son! I sailed alone with my son a few years ago, and it was one of our best vacations yet! He still talks about how much fun we had together. From one mom to another, I understand your concerns. I remember being incredibly nervous about the verandah door and the possibility of him getting too curious. But once we got to our stateroom, my mind was at ease. The verandah door is surprisingly heavy, and there's a lock and a latch placed high up, way out of reach for little hands. You'll feel so much more comfortable once you see it in person!
Depending on your stateroom category, you might have an upper berth pull-down bed, which my son absolutely loves. It has a built-in bed rail, a reading light, and a ladder. Your
Stateroom Host can also provide a bed rail for the convertible sofa. Whether it's the gentle movement of the ship, the refreshing sea breeze, or all the excitement, my family always has the best night's sleep on board.
As for your second question: will switching staterooms be possible once you board? It's a bit tricky. The ships are often fully booked, so it’s not always possible to change to a different category. You can certainly check with Guest Services during your cruise, but from my experience, it's best to
book the stateroom you’ll feel most comfortable in right from the start.
I hope this information helps, Amanda! For a special treat before bed, surprise your son with a Mickey Premium Ice Cream Bar from
room service—it’s complimentary!
SEAS the adventure!
