Hi Andreina,
My family always makes a trip to Walt Disney World in May. Even on Memorial Day weekend, the crowds aren't usually heavy. Many of the guests during the holiday are Florida residents like us, getting in one more Disney weekend before the summer crowds arrive in early June.
We have celebrated a number of birthdays at Chef Mickey's, so your planning is off to a good start.
If your son is a Donald Duck fan, you might want to consider another character meal. Donald is the star of both breakfast and lunch at the
Tusker House in Animal Kingdom.
The Mexico pavilion at Epcot is a prime spot to meet Donald. He usually greets guests outside the pavilion, wearing his Three Caballeros attire. Or see him and his friends at
Pete's Silly Sideshow in the New Fantasyland at Magic Kingdom.
Make sure you get your son one of the free birthday buttons at guest services. When you wear the button, cast members and other guests wish you "Happy Birthday" frequently. He can wear it every day during your visit if he wants.
Cast members sometimes offer birthday surprises, too. More than once, we've had a cast member bring a special birthday dessert, complete with candles and singing.
For an additional fee, you can order personalized birthday cakes or have gifts delivered to your room. All the birthday products are detailed on the
Customize Your Special Occasion pages of the main website.
We usually stick with a birthday button and a special meal.
I hope that helps. Let me know if you have any more questions. Enjoy your celebration!
