I am traveling in for a cheer competition and our tickets start on January 10, if I wanted to go into the park on January 8 can I buy a two day ticket and link it on the same account? Will this impact my ability to reserve lightning lanes for my stay?

Cheers, Kelly! Thanks for stopping by planDisney with your question! Whether you're competing or cheering on your favorite team as they take the mat at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, you're sure to make some magical memories during your upcoming visit!

Kelly, you are absolutely able to purchase an additional 2-day Theme Park Ticket to use on the days before your event tickets are valid for additional admission to the theme parks; you can easily link this ticket to your My Disney Experience account when you purchase it in addition to your other ticket that becomes valid a few days later.

As far as using the Lightning Lane Multi Pass system, your eligibility to make these reservations is linked to your Disney Resort hotel stay - if you are staying as a guest at a Disney Resort hotel or select other hotels, you will be eligible to make selections 7 days before your check-in date for the entire length of your stay, as long as you have valid theme park admission for each day. If you are not staying at a Disney Resort hotel, you will be able to book your Lightning Lanes 3 days ahead of your park visit, and with a 2-day date-based ticket, you will be able to purchase both days 3 days ahead of the first day of your ticket.

If you have multiple tickets linked to your My Disney Experience account, you should have no problem reserving Lightning Lanes for each day once you are eligible, even if you will be using different tickets over the duration of your visit. As a quick bonus tip, usually with Sport and Convention tickets, including cheer competitions, the ticket type does require you to make Theme Park Reservations for your park visits, which is sometimes required to purchase Lightning Lanes, depending on your type of ticket and the date of your visit. Be sure to complete these steps as soon as you get your tickets linked for the best availability and to ensure you don't run into any issues when it's time to reserve your Lightning Lanes!

Kelly, one other tip I'll share before I let you go - if you also have the Park Hopper Option, regardless of which park you have reserved, you can purchase Lightning Lane Multi Pass for any of the four theme parks, but you will need to make your 3 advance selections at the same theme park. Once you've tapped into your first attraction, you can then book additional attractions or experiences at any theme park (subject to availability).  This is my favorite feature of the new system because I find the value is increased when I'm able to use my Multi Pass at multiple parks on the same day!

I hope this helps, Kelly! I'm sending you all the pixie dust for a magical performance at the competition and lots of great memories along the way! If you have any other questions before your trip, come on back and let me know!

Here's to making magic and hitting zero!
