Ahoy, Lindsay!
Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! Are you getting excited for your DREAM-y voyage to paradise? Captain Mickey and his friends have so much fun planned for you and your pirate crew! My family and I are planning to set sail aboard the Disney Dream next month and we can't wait to visit
Disney's private island, Castaway Cay!
Thank you for asking such an important question. Children under the age of 16, who are U.S. citizens, sailing on a round trip voyage with their parents from a U.S. port, and returning to that same U.S. port, do not need a U.S. passport to set sail on Disney Cruise Line. They only need an original (or copy) of their state-issued birth certificate as proof of citizenship. Children 16 and over need an original (or copy) of their state-issued birth certificate along with a government-issued photo ID as proof of citizenship for round trip cruises from a U.S. port. I highly recommend taking a look at the
Passport & Travel Documentation information before setting sail, just to make sure you have the correct documentation for each member of your family.
Even though your buccaneers aren't required to have valid passports for your upcoming voyage, Disney Cruise Line encourages all Guests to have them while sailing the high seas with Captain Mickey! On the off chance there is a medical emergency while visiting another country and you need to fly directly home, each member of your family will have an easier time getting back to the U.S. if they have a valid passport.
Lindsay, thank you so much for sailing by! I'm wishing you an unforgettable upcoming voyage sailing to the Bahamas!
